Gail Cacchiotti's Christmas Bake

Makes 4 servings

8 slices white bread
3 ounces shredded cheese
6 eggs
3 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon dry mustard
6 strips lean bacon


Shred bread (crust on or off) into bite sized chunks. Mix bread and cheese. Spread mixture into a 9x9 baking pan. Beat eggs; add milk, salt, pepper and dry mustard. Beat again. Pour egg mixture over bread and cheese; lay bacon strips on top. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate over night (if desired). Remove plastic wrap and bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes.
