1 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
2 cups chocolate chips or M&M"s
1/2 cup nuts, chopped (optional)

Cream together first 7 ingredients. Mix in remaining ingredients. Spread batter evenly in a greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned.
