Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
1/2 cup shortening or margarine
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon lemon flavoring
1/2 cup milk
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour sifted
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Sift dry ingredients together.
Cream shortening, add sugar, add egg and flavoring, mix until light and fluffy.
Add dry ingredients alternately with milk to sugar mixture.
Roll into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 10 minutes.
