Mrs. Claus' Christmas & Holiday Cookies - Recipe for Santa's Shorts

Santa's Shorts

Makes 5 1/2 dozen

Ingredients

2 cups butter, softened
1 3/4 cups sifted icing sugar
4 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour

Directions

  1. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 300 degrees.

  2. Cream butter, gradually beat in sugar. Add and beat in flour 1/2 cup at a time.

  3. Wrap dough in wax paper and chill.

  4. Allow dough to warm slightly; knead for 1 minute.

  5. Roll out dough onto slightly floured board to 1/4 inch thickness and cut with cookie cutters.

  6. Decorate as desired.

  7. Bake in preheated oven for 14-20 minutes.


Important: DO NOT chill for more than 3-4 hours or dough will become to hard. Use electric mixer for mixing.
