Congo Squares
Ingredients
16 ounces (1 box) light brown sugar
1 cup (2 stick) butter or margarine, melted
3 eggs
2 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup broken nuts (optional)
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease 9x13 baking pan.
Cream sugar and melted butter. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.
Sift flour and baking powder together. Stir flour into sugar and butter mixture a little at a time.
Add nuts and chocolate chips.
Put into prepared pan.
Bake for 25 minutes.
Note: Do not use mixer.
