Mrs. Claus' Christmas & Holiday Fudge & Candy - Recipe for Chocolate Almond Bars

Chocolate Almond Bars

Makes 24 bars • From the kitchen of Sofia

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter
1 cup crushed chocolate wafer cookies
12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup slivered almonds
7 ounces shredded coconut
7 ounces sweetened condensed milk

Directions

  1. In ovenproof 8"x12" glass baking dish, melt butter in preheated 350 degree F oven without browning.

  2. Remove from oven and sprinkle cookie crumbs in an even layer over butter.

  3. In even layers, sprinkle chocolate chips, then almonds, then coconut.

  4. Finally pour sweetened condensed milk in a smooth layer over the top.

  5. Bake for 45 min. or until top is golden brown.

  6. Allow to cool thoroughly before cutting.
