Supplies & Tools:

  • Curling ribbon
  • Scissors

  • Cardstock

Wrapped Up With Curls

Directions:

  1. Choose color(s) of ribbon. The length of ribbon largely depends on the size of the present you are wrapping. This present is about the size of a shirt box. When we cut the ribbon, we roughly measure it, meaning about 2 arm spans (~10 feet).
  2. Wrap the ribbon around the box and tie a knot.
  3. Curl each piece of ribbon. See how it’s bare around the knot and how the ribbon just falls?
  4. Very gently tie a bow with curled ribbon. The curls will bunch up beautifully over the knot, covering it (yay!) and some curls cascade down, giving the bow a nice shape.
  5. Now your curly ribbon is done. Pretty!

Stand Alone Curls

Directions:

  1. Cut several pieces of curling ribbon that range in length from 24"–36".
  2. Curl each piece of ribbon.
  3. Gather ribbons near the center and staple to a small piece of cardstock (about a 1.5" square).
  4. If your ribbon cluster looks a little bare in the middle, then cut additional pieces of ribbon, curl, and staple them onto the cluster.
  5. If the cardstock has a sticky back, you can just peel the paper and stick onto your gift. Otherwise, use tape (or hot glue) to stick it onto your gift.

Shredded Curls

Directions:

  1. Cut several pieces of wide curling ribbon around 12" long. Our ribbon is 1/2" wide, and we're using 6 pieces of ribbon to make the curly bow.
  2. Curl each piece of ribbon.
  3. Gather all the pieces of ribbon near the middle and staple to a small piece of cardstock (about a 1.5" square).
  4. Now split each ribbon in half or thirds.
Note: Try using a fork to split the ribbon. A fork may not work if the prongs are not pointy. Fingers work just fine, too.
  5. If the cardstock has a sticky back, you can just peel the paper and stick onto your gift. Otherwise, just use tape (or hot glue) to stick it onto your gift.
