Stamped & Scalloped Cards

All you need are scalloped-edge scissors, stamps, paint, and rubber cement to make these cards! Simply cut the paper along one edge of the card and use whatever stamps you like. When making several cards, you can make them the same or use different stamps so that no two cards are alike.

Basic Supplies:

  • Assorted cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Scalloped edge scissors
  • Stamps
  • Paint
  • Foam brush
  • Rubber cement

Oh, Dear

This little dear reminds us of Santa’s reindeer and the beautiful woodlands at the North Pole! This card is so simple to make and is great for holiday greetings.

Supplies & Tools:

Directions:

  1. Cut white paper to desired size (cut 8" x 6" and then fold in half to make a 4" x 6" card).
  2. Cut a piece of brown paper that is 4" x 6".
  3. With scallop-edge scissors, cut one edge of white card.
  4. Use a foam brush to apply metallic paint to the stamp. (Or you can use an ink pad.)
  5. Press stamp onto front of card. Let dry.
  6. Open the card and use rubber cement to glue the brown paper to side with the scalloped edge.
  7. Once it is dry, you can write your holiday greeting inside!

Fly, Fly Away

Here’s another idea for making a card with scalloped-edge scissors and stamps.

Supplies & Tools:

Directions:

  1. Cut white paper to desired size (cut 8" x 6" and then fold in half to make a 4" x 6" card).
  2. With scallop-edge scissors, cut one edge of white card.
  3. Cut a piece of green paper that is 4" x 6".
  4. Using rubber cement, glue green paper behind the scalloped card flap.
  5. Cut a piece of ribbon and attach to card using double-sided tape.
Note: To keep the ribbon from fraying, seal it with a flame before attaching to the card.
  6. Cut 2 circles: 1 green, 1 white. We used a circle punch to cut the circles.
  7. Next, use scalloped-edge scissors to trim the white circle.
Note: It can be tricky getting the scallops to line up just right, so you could use a scalloped circle punch instead.
  8. Now take metallic paint and a stamp to add a design to the center of the white circle.
  9. Use rubber cement to glue white and green circles together.
  10. Glue circles onto the card, and voila!

Elfy Hints:

  • To cut a fishtail on the ribbon, fold the ribbon in half and then cut a diagonal line.
