Ingredients

3 cups olive oil
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup brandy
pinch of salt
2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
9 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon cinnamon

Syrup:
3 cups honey
lemon juice
cinnamon
3 cups sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit).

  2. In bowl, mix oil, sugar and orange juice.

  3. In a separate bowl, blend brandy, salt and soda.

  4. Add the brandy mix to the orange juice mix, then add the flour, cinnamon and baking powder.

  5. Shape the dough into stars, place on an ungreased baking sheet.

  6. Bake them for 30 minutes.

  7. Let cool.

  8. Place the ingredients for the syrup in a pan and heat until boiling.

  9. Pour the syrup over them and dust with chopped walnuts and cinnamon.
