Ingredients

1/3 cup oil
2/3 cup molasses
2 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
3 cups Whole Grain Flour (Wheat, Barley, Rye, Rice, Oats)

Directions

Faye's Gingerbread

  1. Mix, roll, cut with cutters.

  2. Bake at 325 degrees. 5–8 minutes for cookies or 8–12 minutes for houses

  3. Let cool, then decorate with decorative icing

Making a Pattern for Gingerbread Houses:

  1. Make the sides and end pieces, to the starting of the roof, the same size - 4 to 5 inches is a good size.

  2. Make the roof wider and taller than the slant part of the end pieces, so that it fits on top and doesn't slide into the house. 5 to 6 inches is a good size.

  3. Make the slant on the end pieces not too steep. If it angle is too steep, the roof will slide off.

  4. Roll the dough onto a parchment paper, slide it onto the cookie sheet, then cut out the pieces of the house.

  5. After cutting out the door, be sure to bake it, and prop it open as part of the decoration. This makes for a more inviting and friendly house.

Note: Healthy decorations can be used, such as dry cereal, crackers, nuts, or dried fruit.

Could you recommend a shop or website to get specially made cutters so that we don't have to spend half-an-hour making templates before we begin... also it gets very sticky! Overall, delicious!
