Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 3/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup oats
1/2 cup raisins (nuts or chocolate chips may be substituted)
Directions
When ready to bake, preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla together.
Mix in the dry ingredients, then stir in oats and raisins.
Refrigerate until chilled (several hours).
Create walnut sized balls and place them on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Press each ball flat with the bottom of a sugared glass.
Cook 10 to 12 minutes.
