Mrs. Claus' Christmas & Holiday Cookies - Recipe for Ho-Ho Bars

Ho-Ho Bars

Ingredients

1 box devil's food cake mix, plus ingredients to prepare
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup margarine, softened
2/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup evaporated milk
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
pinch of salt
1 container dark chocolate frosting

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Prepare cake mix as directed on box.

  3. Pour batter into a greased 11x17 inch cake pan and bake 12-15 minutes.

  4. Cool.

  5. Combine sugar, margarine, shortening, milk, vanilla, and salt.

  6. Beat until fluffy (10-15 minutes).

  7. Spread over cooled cake.

  8. Melt frosting in microwave for 20 seconds to soften.

  9. Spread frosting over white cream layer.
