Mrs. Claus' Christmas & Holiday Cookies - Recipe for Homemade Turtles

Homemade Turtles

Ingredients

1 package (14 ounce) caramels
2 tablespoons evaporated milk
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 package (6 ounce) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 (1 inch) square paraffin wax

Directions

  1. Place caramels, milk and butter in 1-quart bowl. heat in microwave for 4 to 5 minutes or until caramels are melted.

  2. Arrange pecan halves in groups of 3 on buttered sheet(s).

  3. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of warm caramel mixture over each group of pecans.

  4. Refrigerate uncovered for 30 minutes.

  5. Place chocolate chips and paraffin in 2 cup bowl.

  6. Heat in microwave fro 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 on medium temperature or until melted.

  7. Spoon enough chocolate to cover each pecan.

  8. Allow to cool.

  9. Can be frozen or kept in fridge.
