Fun to make with kids, Good for parties/potlucks, Travels well

Ingredients

3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
4 tablespoons molasses
2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups flour
granulated sugar for dipping

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Cream shortening and sugar.

  3. Beat in egg and molasses.

  4. Add soda, ginger, cinnamon, and flour and mix well.

  5. Roll in balls the size of walnuts.

  6. Dip in granulated sugar.

  7. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and press down with fork.

  8. Bake for 8 minutes.

The best ginger cookie recipe EVER! Its the only one I use! Some times it only take 7 mins but that's the only thing I can say other than that they are soft and chewy melt in your mouth best recipe OK have to go make more:-) bye now
