Recipe Details

Bake Time:
7-10 minutes

1/2 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1 egg
2 1/4 cups flour
favorite preserves, raspberry is traditional


  1. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Cream butter and sugar and add egg. Beat well, add flour and salt.

  3. Mix dough by hand until soft.

  4. Refrigerate for 2 hours.

  5. Roll on floured board to 1/4 inch thick.

  6. Cut into rounds.

  7. Cut center out of half of the rounds. This is the top of the cookies.

  8. Bake for 7-10 minutes or very lightly brown.

  9. Cool and place preserves on solid half of cookies, and top with cookies that have the center cut out.

  10. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
