Recipe Details

Ingredients

1 cup butter flavored shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup bananas, mashed
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped nuts

Icing:
1/3 cup butter
1 tablespoon milk
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar
1 package (3 ounce) cream cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

  2. Mix shortening, sugar, eggs (mixing well), stir in bananas, buttermilk and vanilla.

  3. Stir in dry ingredients and nuts.

  4. Chill dough for 1 hour.

  5. Drop by teaspoon on lightly greased cookie sheet.

  6. Bake approximately 12-14 minutes.


Icing:

  1. Mix cream cheese, butter, milk, vanilla and powdered sugar. Beat well.

  2. Ice cooled cookies.

I make these cookies monthly!! Instead of nuts I add mini chocolate chips. Even people who do not like banana baked goods enjoy these cookies! They are my absolute fav!
