Recipe Details

20 minutes

Ingredients

2 teaspoons butter or margarine
2 eggs or egg substitute equivalent
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
5 tablespoons flour
1/8 teaspoon baking soda 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
confectioner's sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Melt butter in small baking pan over low heat.

  3. Beat eggs slightly with vanilla. Combine sugar, flour, soda and nuts. Stir into beaten eggs and vanilla.

  4. Pour mixture over butter.

  5. Do not stir.

  6. Bake for 20 minutes or until center is set.

  7. Turn out of pan onto rack.

  8. Cut into squares and dust with confectioners sugar.

My mother has been making this Christmas Cookie for over 50 years. I always double the recipe and make it in a 9 x 13 pan. This is my son's favorite cookie and the most requested by my friends for our cookie exchange.

these are sooo goood. this is my second time making them. first time they did not work out at all but i thought i would give them a try. turned out good. made them without the nuts and they came out excellent.

this recipe is one of my all time favorites, I remember making them as a kid, and now I make them every year with my daughter. They are rich and chewing and nutty... Easy to make and easy to eat!!
