I always get a strong piece of cardboard and cover with foil to put the candy house on. Another hint is to put icing around the house and sprinkle beads and colored sugar over the icing.

Ingredients

graham wafer squares
Karo syrup
white candied icing
long, skinny licorice (red and green)
candy: M&M's, jelly beans, ju jubes
colored beads or sprinkles

Directions

  1. Take 2 graham wafer squares and dip the edge in the Karo syrup (the syrup must be hot so be careful).

  2. Place the two edges together and let it set for a few seconds.

  3. Repeat 3 more times.

  4. Now dip two of the sides in the syrup and stick them together at right angles.

  5. Continue for the other two sides until you have a square.

  6. Now make the roof the same way.

  7. You will need four graham wafer squares for the roof.

  8. Take a square and cut in a triangle shape to fill in the eaves of the roof.

  9. Now, cover all the seams with white icing, and use the thin licorice to make a border around the house (stick the licorice on the white icing).

  10. Place the icing over the house here and there, and put a colored candy on the icing.

  11. Decorate in this way until you like what you have.
