1 pound brown sugar
1/2 pound (1 cup) butter
1 quart milk
3 to 4 heaping tablespoons cornstarch
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix brown sugar, butter and heat in one pan
Set aside 1/2 cup of milk and heat the remaining milk until boiling point in another pan.
Mix the reserved 1/2 cup of milk with cornstarch.
Pour boiling milk into brown sugar and butter, add cornstarch mixture to sugar and butter.
Stir and cook until mixture thickens, add vanilla.
Cool and serve with whipped cream on top.
The second item should say BUTTER not sugar. I made it and it was yummy!
