3/4 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons baking cocoa
1/2 chopped nuts (optional)
4 cups miniature marshmallows

1 1/3 cup (8 ounces) chocolate chips
3 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 cup peanut butter
2 cup crisp rice cereal


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Grease a jelly roll pan.

  3. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.

  4. Add eggs and vanilla; beat until fluffy.

  5. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa; add to cream mixture.

  6. Stir in nuts, if desired.

  7. Spread in prepared pan.

  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes.

  9. Sprinkle marshmallows evenly over cake; return to oven for 2-3 minutes.

  10. Using a knife dipped in water, spread melted marshmallows evenly over the cake.

  11. Cool.


  1. Combine chocolate chips, butter and peanut butter in a small saucepan.

  2. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until melted and well blended.

  3. Remove from heat; stir in cereal. Spread over bars. Chill.
