Recipe Details

Ingredients

1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 cup sour milk
5 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and mix well. Combine dry ingredients.

  3. Add to butter mixture by alternating with sour milk.

  4. Refrigerate dough till stiff.

  5. Roll out on floured surface and cut with cookie cutters.

  6. Bake about 10 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE!

  7. Ice with frosting when cool or sprinkle with sugar prior to baking.
