Ingredients

Crust:
enough chocolate wafers to make 1 1/2 cups crumbs
1/2 cup butter
2 tablespoons white sugar


Filling:
1 can sweetened condensed milk
6 caramels, unwrapped
4 tablespoons milk
1/3 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans
8 ounce package cream cheese

Directions

  1. Crush enough chocolate wafers to make 1 1/2 cups crumbs, mix with butter and white sugar.

  2. Press into a 9 inch pie pan.

  3. Beat on high speed: cream cheese and condensed milk until thick and creamy (around 7 to 10 minutes). Pour into pie crust.

  4. Melt caramels with 2 tablespoons milk and drizzle over the pie filling.

  5. Melt chocolate chips with 2 tablespoons milk and drizzle over the caramel.

  6. Sprinkle pecans over the top.

  7. Chill for 3-4 hours before serving.

My guess as to why it didn't work is there is no whipping cream. Most turtle pie recipes I know of require 16 oz. of whipped topping folded into the cream cheese and sweetened condensed milk. I'll have to try it and see

I used this recipe for Thanksgiving and the pie sat in the fridge over night and it never set, still maintained the consistency of a liquid :( It looked so delicious when I made it, so if any one else has made this pie and had a different outcome I would love to know what i did wrong so i could try again.
