My late Mom, Alice Patterson, was a fabulous Southern cook. This was one of her favorite recipes that she made during the holidays.

One 9 x 13 inch cake

Ingredients

1 box spice cake mix
2 cans SLICED apples in water, undrained (NOT apple pie “filling”)
1 stick margarine or butter, melted
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees

  2. In a 9 x 13 inch baking pan that has been sprayed with Pam vegetable oil baking spray, dump in the undrained apples, and spread evenly in pan.

  3. Sprinkle with the dry spice cake mix.

  4. Pour melted margarine (or butter) evenly over all the dry cake mix.

  5. Top with chopped pecans.

  6. Bake for about 40 minutes or until bubbly.

  7. Serve hot with vanilla ice cream
